Be prepared with DECKEE

Pictured is a mobile phone screen showing 'Boating forecast' on the new DECKEE App

We’ve partnered with DECKEE so you can access real-time, personalised boating safety information.

DECKEE is a boating safety app. It aims to help everyone enjoy their time on the water safely.

Many boaties already use the DECKEE app:

  • as their trusted source for local boating safety information
  • to plan and record their trips.

The app will support South Australian boaties to:

  • access information on safety alerts and rules specific to their location
  • understand and comply with the current regulations
  • access all the information they need in the one spot, right in the palm of their hand

Use the DECKEE app to:

  • get safety information
  • share your live location
  • check the weather
  • and more!

Simpler signs for safer, smarter boating

Pictured is a 6 panel sign on our coastal boat ramp which provides all information from Marine Safety, Department for Environment and Water and the Department of Primary Industries and Regions. The sign is outlined with black and the signed panels have images and blue background to match the ocean and water.

Pictured is a sign that states 'wear your lifejacket' as a reminder for people heading out on the water.

Safety signage is cluttering some of our State’s boat ramps. We know this makes it harder for you to find important information to stay safe on the water.

To help you stay safe on the water we:

  • are replacing individual signs at boat ramps
  • have partnered with other agencies to collate information into one comprehensive information board
  • plan to roll out information boards at more locations over time.

The first information board is now at the North Haven boat ramp. Take a look next time you’re nearby!

Keep your speed in check

Pictured is our new electronic signs that have been installed to show people the speed limit they are doing in a 4knot zoned area of water. This is placed on a beacon pole in the water. The photo shows a cloudy summers day with calm waters.

Pictured is a person on a PWC (Jetski) operating at 4 knots as the electronic sign has picked up his speed and advised he is doing 4 knots. The water has a very small wake (movement) with rocks on the side and boats moored in the background.

To help you keep your speed in check, we’ve installed two new electronic speed advisory signs at North Haven Marina and St Kilda Channel.

A green smiley face will tell you when you’re keeping under the 4-knot speed limit. If you’re going too fast, you’ll be reminded to slow down.

Stay safe and stick to the speed limit.
