We've partnered with DECKEE so you can access real-time, personalised boating safety information.

DECKEE is a boating safety app. It aims to help everyone enjoy their time on the water safely. Learn more about DECKEE.

Many boaties already use the DECKEE app:

• as their trusted source for local boating safety information
• to plan and record their trips.

The app will support South Australian boaties to:

• access information on safety alerts and rules specific to their location
• understand and comply with the current regulations
• access all information they need in the one spot, right in the palm of their hand.

South Australia is the latest state to adopt this system. DECKEE has already partnered with other Australian state governments and authorities, including New South Wales, Victoria and Western Australia. This means you can confidently use DECKEE when travelling to other states.

Creating safer boating through technology was a key action identified in South Australia's Recreational Boating Safety Strategy. The strategy found there was strong community support for partnering with a safety app to provide simple, easy and relevant safety information to boaties.

Key features

The app will feature a specific page dedicated to Marine Safety SA. This page will include links to key information relating to the state’s waterways.

The DECKEE app provides an option to share your location with your family and friends.

This makes it easy to let someone know before you go. It could also speed up emergency help.

Note, this does not replace the need to have required flares, EPIRB and marine radios.

Get personalised safety equipment checklists and expiry reminders

Be prepared and avoid fines by ensuring you have the right safety gear for your area and activity.

You can also set up reminders for when you need to replace your gear.

Check the weather

Get personalised and up-to-date weather forecasts and alerts.

Add your vessel type to allow DECKEE to give you vessel-specific advice for your day on the water.

You can also check the live web cameras across SA’s coastal locations.

Explore detailed boating maps

Maps for your area could include:

• boat ramps
• webcams
• local regulations
• wind directions
• fishing spots
• shipwrecks
• sanctuary and environmental zones
• restricted areas
• speed restrictions
• port and harbor boundaries.

Report an incident

Use the DECKEE app to:

• report a boating accident or incident
• share a marine safety concern.
