Happy Safe Boating Week!

Safe Boating Week is all about sharing safe boating messages and getting this year’s boating season off to a good start.
In South Australia, the week kicks off today (Friday, 3 October) and will run until Wear Your Lifejacket to Work Day on Friday, 10 October.
We’ll be sharing daily tips during the week for how to stay safe on the water via our Marine Safety SA Facebook page.
But with many of you ready to launch this weekend, our top tips are on our website for a sneak peak.
Read our top tips for Safe Boating Week.
Welcome aboard our first quarterly edition

This is the first edition of the new Marine Safety SA quarterly newsletter, launched in line with the official boating season.
We love sharing tips and tales with you and will continue to use these newsletters to keep you updated.
We’ll never leave you high and dry though! If you haven’t already, hop aboard our Marine Safety SA Facebook page, which continues to share regular updates all year round.
Keep an eye out for special edition newsletters outside our regular quarterly schedule too.

Get Ship-Shape this boating season

With the boating season kicking off, now is the time to make absolutely sure you are ready and prepared to stay safe on the water.
We will be spreading boating safety messages all season, but we need your help.
Before you head out, make sure:
- your boating safety knowledge is Ship-Shape. Plan ahead. Gear up.
- your lifejacket is Ship-Shape. Wear it. Maintain it.
And if you’re keen to jump on a jet ski, make sure your speed is Ship-Shape near others. Cool your jets. Know the rules.
Get Ship-Shape and we’ll see you on the water!

Event wrap up: Field Days 2025

Congratulations to Aidan who was the lucky winner of the lifejacket giveaway
We had a fantastic time at the recent Riverland and Yorke Peninsula Field Days, meeting close to 600 people across the two events.
Our highlights included:
- the popular children’s trail, where kids collected stamps for their passport and a Marine Safety SA drink bottle
- interactive lifejacket maintenance demonstrations throughout the day
- answering plenty of great questions about safe boating on the River Murray.
We also ran “Win a lifejacket” competitions at both events. Congratulations to Aidan (winner at the Riverland Field Days) and Shana (winner at the Yorke Peninsula Field Days).
