Notice to Mariners No. 66 of 2026 (Temp)

SOUTH AUSTRALIA – ST VINCENT GULF – NORTH HAVEN AND HENLEY BEACH - DREDGING AND SAND DEPOSITING OPERATIONS

Mariners are advised that a Backhoe dredge will be operating south of North Haven Marina Southern breakwater and a Cutter Suction dredge West of Henley beach and West Beach

Dredging operations are scheduled for 7 days a week 24 hours a day, commencing on the 11 September. Works are scheduled to be completed mid-October 2026.

The dredging operation at North Haven is within the following area:

34° 47' 43" S, 138° 28' 39" E
34° 47' 45" S,138° 28' 58" E
34° 48' 18" S, 138° 29' 09" E
34° 48' 18" S, 138° 28' 54" E

The placement and rehandling operations at Henley and West Beach are conducted within the following approximate area:

34° 55' 21" S, 138° 29' 19" E
34° 55' 19" S, 138° 29' 37" E
34° 56' 50" S, 138° 30' 05" E
34° 56' 53" S, 138° 29' 54" E

It is recommended mariners stay 500m clear of the dredging and barges at the above locations.

Crews aboard the dredge will maintain a listening watch on VHF channel 10 and 14.

The pipeline trailing from the cutter suction dredge normally rests on the seabed; however, at certain times to facilitate dredge movements, the pipeline may be floated; a SECURITE warning will be issued on VHF channel 16.

Mariners are advised to exercise caution when navigating in this area.
