Kingscote Main Jetty temporarily closed

Tuesday, 22 December 2020

The Department for Infrastructure and Transport advises that the Kingscote Main Jetty on Kangaroo Island has been partially closed to all pedestrians and vehicles until further notice.

The northern half of the jetty has been fenced off to the public, up to the edge of the existing timber ramp.

The southern section, extending out to the end of the jetty, will remain open to the public.

SeaLink ferry services will not be impacted as they travel between Penneshaw and Cape Jervis.

Other marine structures near the jetty will remain open and accessible to the public.

An independent engineering report recommended the partial closure of the jetty for safety reasons due to the deteriorated condition of a number of piles.

The jetty is due to be upgraded as part of the $20 million funding for marine structures announced in the State Budget 2020-21.
