Notice to Mariners No 8 of 2020 (Temporary) (Cancelled 17 March 2020)

HARBORS AND NAVIGATION ACT 1993

Mariners are advised that four new unlit navigation beacons have been installed in Louth Bay south of Point Bolingbroke to mark underwater structures within an aquaculture zone.  The beacons consist of yellow spar buoys with radar reflectors and a yellow St Andrews Cross. At this stage, the buoys are unlit and may pose a navigational risk, especially at night and low visibility.  Yellow flashing lights will be installed on the new buoys by 13 March 2020, weather permitting.

Approximate positions of the four buoys (in WGS84 coordinates) are as follows:

34° 33’ 07.62” S        136° 04’ 47.70” E

34° 33’ 07.62” S        136° 05’ 01.32” E

34° 33’ 20.70” S        136° 04’ 47.94” E

34° 33’ 20.58” S        136° 05’ 01.56” E

Mariners are advised to navigate with caution in the area.
