Marine safety officers

Our marine safety officers aim to keep our waterways safe by ensuring boaters have the correct safety equipment.

They can conduct a vessel safety check by intercepting your boat on the water or when launching. If you don’t have everything in order, you may be sent ashore. You may also receive a monetary penalty. In minor instances, a formal caution may be issued or general educational advice provided.

Our marine safety officers can answer questions and provide advice about operating your boat safely. For example:
